Drug dealer jailed for 19 years over murder of music manager

British rap manager Robert Powell (also known as Fox) was shot and killed in 2020, aged 50. Now, a third man has been jailed for his death.

Drug dealer, 41-year-old Temitope Adeyinka, was found guilty of manslaughter following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 19 years behind bars.

According to the BBC, Powell was shot seven times after leaving a house party at around 5am in Roydon, Essex, in June 2020. He suffered 15 wounds outside Hills House in Water Lane and died in hospital the next day.

A father of three, he was killed by a 9mm Luger semi-automatic pistol in front of his two adult sons. Two women also suffered serious injuries from the gunshots.

Speaking in court, Judge Justice Bennathan told Adeyinka, “You must have known a team was being assembled. By the time you were outside Hills House, you must’ve known for many hours you were joining in an elaborately planned attack.”

Adeyinka’s two co-defendants were sentenced in May 2024. 44-year-old Nana Oppong, who prosecutors said coordinated the shooting, was jailed for a minimum of 38 years.

39-year-old Israar Shah, who was allegedly deployed as a spotter, was handed a minimum 26-year sentence.

Powell is best known for being rapper Dutchavelli’s manager. The artist has over 888,000 monthly Spotify listeners, with his biggest song, ‘I Dunno’, a collaboration with Stormzy and Tion Wayne, boasting 151 million streams.

Other big tracks include ‘Burning’ with M Huncho, which has 58 million streams, and ‘Only If You Knew’, with 50 million streams.

Dutchavelli released his only project, Dutch from the 5th, on Parlophone Records in November 2020.
