Drake calls out fake friends over Kendrick Lamar beef on new single ‘What Did I Miss?’
Drake has returned with a surprise new single. The Toronto rapper released his latest track, ‘What Did I Miss?’, on July 5th.
The song, produced by London Cyr, O Lil Angel, DJ Lewis, FNZ, Elyas, GYZ, Tay Keith, OZ and Patron, finds Drizzy responding to those who switched up on him following his beef with Kendrick Lamar.
In the chorus, he raps, “I don’t give a fuck if you love me, I don’t give a fuck if you like me/ Askin’ me, ‘How did it feel?’ Can’t say it didn’t surprise me/ Last time I looked to my right, you n*ggas was standing beside me/How can some people I love hang around pussies who try me?/ Let’s go/ What did I miss?”
The track debuted on July 4th during a YouTube stream titled ‘ICEMAN EPISODE 1’. In it, Drake plays an employee on his lunch break who watches old clips of himself in Toronto.
Keeping the same energy in the first verse, Drake spits, “I’m whippin’ around on like six hundred acres, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go/ You n*ggas just better not ask for no favours, let’s go, let’s go, let’s go/ It’s love for my brothers and death to a traitor, let’s go/ She might decide to say no to me now, but say yеs to me later, let’s go.”
‘What Did I Miss?’ is set to appear on his new album ICEMAN, which will be the solo follow-up to 2023’s For All the Dogs and his first since feuding with Kendrick.
The song is Drake’s first release since his PARTYNEXTDOOR collaborative album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which was released in February. The project debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 246,000 units, tying Drake with Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for most number-one albums.
