Drake suffers $1 million loss in Super Bowl bet
Drake bet a lofty $1 million on the Super Bowl over the weekend and lost it all.
Super Bowl LX took place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8th, with the Seattle Seahawks walking away with a 29-13 win over the New England Patriots.
In the lead-up to the game, Drake took to Instagram to reveal he had bet $1 million on the Patriots to win.
“Bet against me if you dare,” he wrote alongside laughing emojis. However, his bet was unsuccessful.
A win would have resulted in a return of $2.95 million for the rapper. Instead, he was left empty-handed and was hit with “Drake curse” comments on social media.
The theory involves a team or sportsperson losing after Drake places a bet on them, with it being the outcome on many occasions.
One person wrote, “Bro already lost the fight before the battle starts.” Another said, “Drake, you my guy, but holy you’re cursed when it comes to betting on sports. I know every single time to take the opposite of whoever you think is going to win, that’s how bad it is.”
Drizzy addressed the “Drake curse” during an interview last year. “The Drake Curse is funny to me, honestly,” he said. “First of all, the Raptors won a championship, so nobody could ever talk to me about the Drake Curse.”
He continued, “The Toronto Raptors are NBA Champions. If there was a Drake Curse, Kawhi [Leonard] would’ve never hit that shot, we would’ve never beat the Warriors. There is no Drake curse, but it’s funny, though.”
Drake placed the $1 million bet with Stake, the online casino he reportedly signed a $100 million a year endorsement deal with.
