Drake fires back at Ebro after being labelled a “sickness”

Drake has responded to Ebro Darden after being called a “sickness” in hip-hop and that he isn’t essential to the genre. The radio personality touched on Drizzy’s position in music during a recent episode of Ebro in the Morning.

“Drake is not that important,” he said. “The reason Drake’s in this is because he is a sickness in the game. It could have been any artist, but it’s what Drake represents. People love Drake – they love his music, we love his music. He’s beloved.”

He continued, “He’s not willing to go rip his soul from the bottom and do ayahuasca and look himself in the mirror as Kendrick had prescribed to him. It’s about what the game does to artists who try to dominate it.”

Drake came across the comments and took to his Instagram burner account, @plottttwistttttt, to share a Photoshopped image of Ebro over a bowl of ayahuasca, the plant-based psychedelic. In response, Ebro addressed the edit on another episode of his show, claiming he’s at a “low” in his career.

“I’ll say this,” he began on Hot 97. “If Drake is now mentioning me at this point in his career – which he’s never mentioned me before or even been on our program or anything like that. And he’s at this point where he’s mentioning me, where he’s already mentioned Charlamagne and Joe Budden and so many other points – he’s at a low.”

Many people have been bashing Drake following his beef with Kendrick, which was made even more prominent by the Compton rapper’s digs at the Super Bowl with ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Not Like Us’. Despite the negativity, Drizzy continues releasing new music, dropping his latest album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Some Sexy Songs 4 U, on February 14th.

Ebro previously called out Drake in 2023, claiming he was in his “feelings” by describing Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ single as “overrated and over awarded.”

“Drake has never shown up to have anything to say about anything going on in society with black folks or anything other than himself,” he said. “So now you have an issue — I get you have an issue with Childish Gambino if what you’re saying is face — but fam, the song was supposed to be a joke diss, it didn’t actually happen. So why you in your feelings?”
