Drake’s father reacts to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ winning five Grammys
Drake‘s dad, Dennis Graham, attended the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on February 2nd and reacted to Kendrick Lamar winning five awards for ‘Not Like Us’. The song is, of course, a fiery diss track against his son, who engaged in a feud with K.Dot last year.
For the single, Kendrick won an impressive five Grammys in the ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Rap Song’, ‘Best Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Music Video’ categories. Produced by Mustard, ‘Not Like Us’ famously accused Drake of paedophilia and sexual misconduct, which has been the root of his lawsuit against Universal Music Group.
During an interview following the ceremony, Graham was asked to share his thoughts on Kendrick sweeping the Grammys with five wins. “I don’t care nothing about that shit,” he told the interviewer. “That ain’t got nothing to do with me. All the best to him – I don’t do that bullshit.”
His comments were much more subdued than his take on Kendrick dissing Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That‘ in March 2024, which kickstarted their feud. Graham addressed the beef on Instagram, writing a post from the perspective of Future and Metro purposely recruiting Kendrick to diss Drake in order to top the Billboard 100 chart.
“Yo I am about to drop some new music and I am not sure if it’s going to sell, but I am going to call some of my homies and get them to start a beef with Drake and get them to unfollow him and that’s going make my shit shoot up to number 1,” he wrote at the time.
He continued, “I’m sure this is going to work so let me get some people on board for this and watch what kind of attention this gets!!!!!!!!!!!! I WILL BE NUMBER ONE 1Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Drake has won five Grammys in his career—the same amount of awards Kendrick won for ‘Not Like Us’ alone over the weekend. Drizzy’s wins came for his Take Care album, released in 2011, and the songs ‘Hotline Bling’, ‘God’s Plan’, and ‘Wait for U’ with Future and Tems.
