Drake calls for Tory Lanez to be freed from prison

For All The Dogs, emcee Drake has publicly called for his fellow Candian Tory Lanez to be released from prison. The highly controversial rapper and singer (real name Daystar Peterson) is currently in prison after he was found guilty of shooting Houston artist Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez were once close friends. However, in July 2020, that all changed after the two got into a (possibly drunken) disagreement, which led to the female rapper getting shot in the foot.

The two had a lengthy legal battle, but in December 2022, Lanez was found guilty Lanez of several felonies, including negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm. However, rake believes Peterson deserves freedom.

The sentence is to last ten years. However, Drake recently posted a photo of Lanez on his Instagram with the caption “3 you,” but the Toronto emcee hasn’t elaborated any further on the meaning of the post. Unfortunately, many have interpreted it as “Free you.”

Although Drake supports his Canadian counterpart, his post won’t be likely to change Lanez’s sentence. Following his imprisonment, Peterson wrote, “I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never let no jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence, and I always will.”

Since Drake’s post, Megan Thee Stallion has lashed out at her so-called “haters” at a performance in California, exclaiming, “I just wanna say, fuck all my haters. None of that shit you was doing or saying broke me. None of that shit y’all be doing or saying to the Hotties [her fans] broke them, and I want all of the Hotties to put their motherfucking middle fingers up right now.”

Megan Thee Stallion has only recently returned to public appearances. Following the 2020 incident, the Houston act required surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet after the shooting and had a two-year hiatus.
