Drake named Apple Music’s most-streamed artist of 2025
Apple Music has announced that Drake has ended the year as the streaming platform’s most-streamed artist.
Similar to Spotify Wrapped, the service revealed the news through its annual Apple Music Replay feature on December 2nd.
As the most-listened-to artist, Drake released his PARTYNEXTDOOR collaborative album, Some Sexy Songs 4 U, in February. It featured hit songs like ‘Nokia’, ‘Die Trying’, and ‘Somebody Loves Me’.
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 246,000 units in its first week, tying Drake with Jay-Z and Taylor Swift for the most number-one albums.
Elsewhere, some of his older tracks like ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘One Dance’ from 2016’s Views album continued to dominate streaming.
While 2025 has been a quieter year for solo material, Drake released several singles, including ‘What Did I Miss?’, ‘Which One’, and ‘Dog House’.
Drizzy is working on his new album, Iceman, which currently doesn’t have a release date. The Toronto rapper has been promoting the project with a series of live streams.
“I was asked by a creative partner what I love and hate about rolling out an album,” he told Complex. “I expressed that I love the opportunity for a clean slate of thoughts and excitement and messaging when it comes to the music. What I hate is the redundancy of this formulaic approach that’s engrained in our brains from early label days. Single, video, single, video, album cover post, etc.”
He added, “I have been dying to act and have been dying for a challenge. The game is extremely calm seas right now. Nobody is rocking any boat on the water and so once we discussed a live stream rollout, it just sounded like the perfect mix of risk and reward for me.”
Despite Drake being Apple Music’s top artist, his rival, Kendrick Lamar, had two of the biggest global songs, with ‘Luther’ and ‘Not Like Us‘ making the top five tracks.
