Dr Dre sells iconic Malibu mansion after 26 years
Dr Dre has sold his longtime beach house in Malibu after being on the market for four years.
The NWA legend purchased the mansion in 2000 for around $4.8 million and has sold it 26 years later for a tidy profit.
According to TMZ, Dre sold the luxurious property for a whopping $16.5 million after listing it for $20 million in 2022.
The deal was reportedly done off-market, with the new buyer of the mansion currently unknown. Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency represented Dre in the sale.
The home is located along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway on Malibu’s Carbon Beach, nicknamed “Billionaire’s Beach.”
The 9,000-square-foot property is located on a 7,000-square-foot lot, and includes six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a sitting area, a private beachside balcony, a recording studio, and a gym. There’s also a spa-like bath, an oversized bathtub, and a sauna.
The original listing read, “This Carbon Beach property exudes total luxury and sophistication. Enter through a private gated courtyard to the stunning tri-level contemporary beach estate that features soaring ceilings and walls of glass that overlook panoramic ocean views from all three levels.”
It continued, “Flooded with natural sunlight and possessing the perfect open floor plan for large-scale entertaining, or intimate relaxed evenings watching the sunset on the coast.”
Dre previously attempted to sell the home in 2011 for around $11 million to $12.5 million, but took the listing down after a few months.
The hip-hop mogul and his ex-wife, Nicole Young, finalised their divorce in December 2021 after 24 years of marriage, which involved a $100 million settlement. Young received $50 million immediately and another $50 million the following year.
