Dr Dre claims he suffered “three strokes” during health scare

Record producer and hip-hop legend Dr Dre recently reflected on being hospitalised for his 2021 brain aneurysm, saying that he had “three strokes” while he was in recovery.

The ‘Dopeman’ producer detailed the moments leading up to the aneurysm alongside feeling out of control during his hospital visit. “It’s just something that you can’t control that just happens and during those two weeks, I had three strokes,” he explained on SiriusXM’s This Life of Mine with James Corden

He added that, on the day, his son insisted he go to the emergency room after experiencing “the worst pain” behind his right ear. When he arrived, he was told it was “serious.”

The rapper said that he spent weeks in the ICU with various doctors reminding him that he was lucky to be alive. After repeatedly searching for answers regarding preventative measures, he realised he suffered from high blood pressure, despite keeping fit and healthy with exercise and a good diet.

At the time, the Hollywood Reporter released a statement, explaining that he was “doing great” and will be “out of hospital and back soon.” He also praised the medical staff at Cedars for helping him through his health scare.

Although he now realises that there weren’t many measures he could have taken to stop the aneurysm, he gained a new appreciation for life and its unpredictability. “It’s just something that could happen out of the blue,” he said. “You wake up and you go, ‘Shit. OK, I’m here.’”

Regardless, the beatmaker continues to look forward, celebrating his achievements, including a forthcoming induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside his longtime friend and collaborator Snoop Dogg.

Set to receive the 2,775th star, the musician will be honoured in the recording category for his ability to “push boundaries and set new standards for excellence,” per the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Walk of Fame.
