Doechii previews new track ‘I Told Em’ in ‘Wendell & Wild’ trailer

Doechii has previewed her new track, ‘I Told Em’, which features in the trailer for Jordan Peele and Henry Selick’s Wendell and Wild.

The spooky stop-animated film is arriving on Netflix on October 28th, which is just in time for Halloween. In the film, Peele joins forces with his old comedy partner Keegan-Michael Key as they play Wild and Wendell, respectively, who have to face their nemesis, and the duo find an unlikely friend in nun Sister Helly.

The synopsis reads: “Two scheming demons strike a deal with a punk rock-loving teen so they can leave the Underworld and live out their dreams in the Land of the Living.”

Speaking about her involvement in the soundtrack, Doechii said: “I’ve been a big fan of Jordan Peele and Henry Selick for a long time so being able to help provide music to this trailer was awesome. I love anything that shows alternative representation of people like me in weird, quirky ways. Happy Halloween!”

Meanwhile, sharing the news on Instagram, Doecheii wrote: “Get ready for Spooky Season, with Henry Selick and Jordan Peele’s new stop-motion animation film, Wendell & Wild. Arriving October 28, only on Netflix and that yeah, that’s ‘I Told Em,’ by Doechii and Rahki.”

The new track, ‘I Told Em’, didn’t make the cut for Doecheii’s most recent EP, She/Her/Black Bitch. However, it’s found a suitable home in the trailer for Wendell and Wild, and it complements the pictures hugely.

In other hip-hop and Netflix-related news, it was also recently confirmed Vince Staples would be getting his own scripted comedy series on the platform.
