DJ Envy insists Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs should get bail for the sake of his children

Radio personality and host of The Breakfast Club, DJ Envy, recently revealed that he believes Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs should be granted bail because he is a father to three children. The broadcaster also expressed his concern about how the public is scrutinising the Bad Boy founder and is not happy with the way the mogul is being portrayed by some as guilty before a trial has decided his fate.

Combs has been behind bars in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre since his September arrest in Manhattan. However, Envy believes that it is unnecessarily harsh to keep him in federal custody when he is a father to three children.

The Breakfast Club host recently spoke with his wife, Gia Casey, during an appearance on her podcast, The Casey Crew. While speaking to his spouse, he acknowledged the severity of Combs’ charges and admitted that if found guilty, he should be locked up, but asserted that, until then, it is cruel to keep him away from his kids.

Although many figures in hip-hop have sought to distance themselves from Combs and condemn him and his actions, Envy has regularly voiced sympathy for the mogul and feels as if the court of public opinion is moving far too quickly. Furthermore, he believes that fans are not thinking about the impact this saga is having on Combs’ children.

DJ Envy addressed the main issue, which is the allegations facing Combs and the unnerving details included in some of the lawsuits filed. Speaking about the alleged “freak offs”, DJ Envy seemed to downplay the allegations, stating, “Diddy’s a freaky n**ga. [But] there’s nothing wrong with being a freaky person. The fact that he have a thousand bottles of oil and lube just means that he likes to get sh*t poppin.”

The broadcaster then delved into the public discourse surrounding the lawsuits and addressed the way fans have reacted to the allegations, stating, “I don’t like how people convict him before hearing all of the evidence. I didn’t like the fact that they didn’t give him a bond.”

Envy continued: “In fact, it’s the repeated denial of bond that has irked the DJ the most. Expressing his exasperation with the justice system, Envy explained, “Diddy has three kids without a mom! Kim Porter passed away… I feel like he should’ve got a bond and been able to fight this outside.”

The Breakfast Club icon then highlighted how other high-profile celebrities who were involved in a scandal were granted bond. He pointed to Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby and OJ Simpson. Looking at these figures he believes that, in comparison, Combs is receiving unfair treatment.

“In this society,” DJ Envy explained, “It feels like you’re guilty until proven innocent. But it should be the opposite; it should be innocent until proven guilty.” He then reassured people that if the verdict is guilty then Diddy should face the consequences, concluding, “If he did do the things that they say that he did,” DJ Envy concluded. “He should go to jail for a long time. Absolutely… He should f*cking go to jail.”
