DJ Akademiks teases new diss track

Podcaster and cultural commentator DJ Akademiks has been on the frontline concerning the current beef between Drake, Kendrick Lamar and, to a lesser extent, J Cole. Akademiks (real name (real name Livingston Allen) was sampled on Drake’s diss track ‘Push Ups (Drop & Give Me Fifty)’ and name-dropped on another track.

Allen has been giving fans exclusive information on his Twitch streams and was the first person to confirm that the current feud stemmed from Lamar’s decision to turn down an appearance on Drake’s track ‘First Person Shooter’ featuring J Cole.

On May 8th, Akademiks took to social media to let fans know that they needed to prepare for brand new diss tracks. Allen posted a mysterious message on Instagram. The post simply had text reading, “Waiting on a few records.” The podcaster also included an emoji with a beaming, cheesy grin.

The cryptic post doesn’t specify which artist is preparing to drop new music. However, fans know that Drake or Kendrick Lamar are the most likely to drop a track, as J Cole backed out of the war with an apology at his Dreamville Fest in North Carolina last month.

The podcaster revealed that the diss track was initially supposed to drop on May 7th. However, there was an incident outside Drake’s Toronto mansion that resulted in the shooting of a security guard employed by the Scorpion rapper.

In a Twitch stream, Akademiks stated, “There was supposed to be some new music today. I’m not saying from who, nor am I gonna confirm from either party that we’ve really been interested in.” Many have insisted that Drake is preparing to release a follow-up to ‘The Heart Part 6’.

Drake’s last diss track received mixed reviews and, according to many, although it has not been proven, has more dislikes than likes on YouTube. Lamar has insinuated that he has more tracks in the vault.
