DJ Akademiks suggests that Drake was trolling Kendrick Lamar with new music video
DJ Akademiks and Drake have a strange relationship that has become all too apparent over recent years. During Drake’s battle with Kendrick Lamar last year, Akademiks hosted an anonymous individual claiming to be a computer technician who added bots to ‘Not Like Us’ employed by Universal Music Group.
However, since Drake has slightly removed himself from the limelight, Akademiks has been bringing him back into conversations where he doesn’t belong.
In an attempt to relive the battle between Lamar and Drake, Akademiks recently declared during a Twitch livestream that Drizzy’s new ‘NOKIA’ music video was an attempt to troll Kendrick Lamar.
Although many don’t see it or didn’t even think about it while watching the video, Akademiks is sure that’s what it was designed to do. DJ Akademiks suggested that because dancers surrounded the Take Care creator, this was an attempt to mock the ‘Not Like Us’ video.
The podcaster also theorised that because the owl at the end of the video is free, this is Drake’s attempt to refute the idea that he is restricted. Kendrick included an owl in his video but caged it to suggest that Drizzy’s OVO label is no longer potent in the industry.
Still, despite Akademiks being labelled a Drake fanboy by many in the culture, he wasn’t the only one to notice some of the similarities. During his stream, he scrolled through X comments and saw some other theories about the video’s meaning that had been put forward.
In the eyes of the cultural commentator, K Dot and Drake cannot stop taking shots at each other in their music, and the streamer believes that they will forever be intertwined. Speaking to his followers, he stated, “Yo, these two are gonna be tied together like Siamese twins.” He added, “Both of them. Like Dot can’t get over it, Drake can’t get over it neither. They can’t get over each other. It’s not one-sided.”
