DJ Akademiks claims that Drake and Future are still in a beef
DJ Akademiks regularly says controversial statements online and sparks debate. However, the podcaster and cultural commentator recently took to social media to discredit a claim that Drake and Future’s feud is no longer ongoing.
During a Twitch livestream on November 2nd, the DJ refuted a claim made by Elliott Wilson of Rap Radar about Drake and Future and asserted that, although Wilson is a good podcaster, he was unsure if he was actually espousing the facts.
Speaking about what he’s aware of, Akademiks told his followers, “Big shoutout to my man Elliott Wilson, but with all due respect, I’ve spoken to extremely credible sources on both sides, and Drake and Future has not been on the phone.”
The figure continued to admit he was unsure where Wilson got his information, adding, “So, not too sure who gave Elliott Wilson the authority to say this, but from what I hear that is not true, that is 100% cap. Now, I’m not gonna say Elliott Wilson is contorting or misrepresenting.”
During an episode of The Bigger Picture podcast earlier this year, Wilson assured people that the What a Time to be Alive creators are now on good terms with each other and resolved their issues over the phone. During his appearance, Wilson stated, “I have it on good authority that Drake and Future have at least gotten on the phone and resolved their differences.”
According to Elliott Wilson, the catalyst was Young Thug’s release from prison after which, he made a post to social media urging Drake, Future and Metro Boomin to collaborate, reading: “@Drake @1future @MetroBoomin we all bruddas. Music ain’t the same without us collabin.”
Speaking about how the post partially led to their reconciliation, Wilson added, “I think that helped the energy when Future reposted it.” Although, Wilson insisted Metro Boomin’ is still not a fan of Drake, unveiling, “There’s no trust there still with Metro, but I do believe that Drake and Future are back on the same page.”
The pair have collaborated on multiple occasions and even released a joint mixtape so, according to Wilson, it was easier for Future and Drake to rekindle their friendship, adding, “Obviously we know that Drake and Future have so much history. Drake was the one saying, ‘We never really went through it.’ [Future] got the lightest of all the taps in the one v. 20, so it makes sense in some capacity.”
