Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs “freak-off” joke shocks Golden Globes audience
Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs was at the heart of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards over the weekend as the host joked about his alleged sexual practices. During one of her moments on stage, comedian Nikki Glaser praised Zendeya for her roles in Dune 2 and Challengers, which saw the actress playing a tennis coach while in a love triangle with two tennis players.
Glaser touched on the sexual nature of Luca Guadagnino’s movie, released in April. While discussing the film, she joked about the sexual charges against Combs, who is currently jailed at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn for alleged racketeering, sex trafficking by force and transportation for purposes of prostitution.
“Zendaya, you were incredible in Dune, oh my God, I woke up for all of your scenes,” she said. “You were so good. And Challengers, girl? Oh my God! That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card. I mean, seriously. I’m sorry, I’m upset too.”
She went on to mention Combs’ infamous parties known as “freak-offs.” Officers described the events as orgies, seizing drugs and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil relating to the alleged parties. As part of the joke, Glaser referenced actor Stanley Tucci and his love of cooking.
“The afterparty is not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on,” she said. “I know a Stanley Tucci freak-off doesn’t have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”
Due to the sensitivity of the allegations against Combs, many people took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their discomfort with the jokes being made. One person wrote, “Every Diddy joke is so corny and extremely insensitive, I need y’all guys to understand that.”
Another person wrote, “Reminder that RAPE jokes are not funny. The DIDDY joke at the Golden Globe was disturbing and distasteful; also considering how insensitive it is to the victims. That monster literally Sexually Assaulted CHILDREN.”
Combs has been denied bail three times, with his trial set to begin on May 5th, 2025. The Bad Boy rapper has pled not guilty to the charges against him.
