Detroit rapper charged with paralysing Baton Rouge rapper in shooting
Detroit rapper Allstar JR is facing new charges after allegedly paralysing Baton Rouge rapper Ben10.
Earlier this month, the 36-year-old (real name Jeremy Ford) was charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Now, according to Click2Houston, Allstar has now been indicted for aggravated assault causing a traumatic brain or spine injury.
In court records, investigators wrote, “Based on the extent of the injuries, the prognosis for Complainant Fields is that he will have irreversible paralysis of his lower extremities.”
The news of Ben10 being paralysed comes just days after the rapper himself revealed he was in a wheelchair.
Allstar is accused of shooting Ben10 at the Confessions restaurant in the Upper Kirby neighbourhood of Houston in April. Shots were fired after a fight broke out, which was captured on CCTV footage; it appeared to involve a necklace and a watch.
After a gun fell to the floor, Allstar allegedly picked it up and opened fire, striking three people, including Ben10. He’s accused of firing more rounds into him from close range.
He allegedly attempted to fire the gun at Ben10’s head, but the gun ran out of bullets. After no bullets came out, he’s accused of using the gun to hit him in the head before spitting on his face.
Ben10 was taken to a local hospital and suffered serious injuries to his spine, causing him to lose sensation from the waist down.
Allstar allegedly hid the gun before fleeing the scene in an SUV; he was arrested after allegedly referencing the shooting in a music video and on social media, taunting the victims. The rapper confessed to the shooting with Houston police and is waiting for his trial to begin on July 6th.
