Detroit rapper Allstar JR facing trial over federal gun case

A trial date has been announced for Detroit rapper Allstar JR over his federal gun charges.

The 36-year-old (real name Jeremy Ford) was charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon in April following a shooting in Houston.

According to Complex, new court documents from the Southern District of Texas have revealed that Allstar will go to trial on July 6th, 2026.

It’s set to take place at the United States Courthouse in Houston, and is expected to last for three days.

Allstar is accused of possessing a handgun in an incident that took place on Kirby Drive on April 8th. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found two victims with gunshot wounds, with the court claiming a third person was also hit.

Authorities claim that Allstar was involved in an argument that saw a handgun fall to the floor, before he picked it up and shot as people fled the scene.

He allegedly opened fire as people ran to the elevator, before going back to a victim on the ground and letting off more bullets. The gun was later found at the scene of the crime.

The complaint also claimed that Allstar shared videos on social media to taunt people and released a music video that referenced the shooting. It was reported that one of the victims was NBA YoungBoy affiliate, NBA Ben10.

Allstar is best known for songs such as ‘Cases Pending’, ‘Dog’, and ‘MMA’, which have millions of streams on Spotify. He released his latest album, Still in Spots, in February, off the back of two projects in 2025: Still Getting a Bag and Ball Up Top.
