Desiigner arrested for domestic violence in South Carolina
Brooklyn rapper Desiigner has been arrested on domestic violence charges.
The 28-year-old (real name Sidney Selby III) was reportedly brought into custody in Conway, South Carolina, on March 23rd.
According to The Shade Room, Desiigner was taken into the Horry County Sheriff’s Office on a third-degree domestic violence charge.
He was booked at 11:24am on March 23rd, before being released at 1:08pm on March 24th. Details surrounding his arrest are unknown, but a mugshot was posted online.
Instagram users took to the comments to react to the arrest. One person said, “Lord. I’m from Sumter SC. He looks just like some of my people. 3rd shift plant worker. Gotta get it together bro,” while another said, “I’m not surprised, there’s absolutely nothing else to do in SC but beat on folk.”
Desiigner is best known for his hit single ‘Panda’, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2015. He was signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label between 2016 and 2021, releasing his New English mixtape and L.O.D. EP. His second biggest single, ‘Tiimmy Turner’, reached number 34 on the Hot 100.
The arrest comes shortly after he released his latest single, ‘Feel Me Dawg’, on March 20th, following ‘Relax’ in February.
Desiigner was previously arrested and charged with one count of indecent exposure on an aircraft in 2023.
The US Attorney’s Office, District of Minnesota, claimed the rapper was flying from Tokyo, Japan, to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, when he exposed his genitals multiple times and masturbated on one occasion.
A flight attendant handed him an FAA violation card, which is used to notify a passenger that their behaviour “appears to be in violation of federal law.”
