Danny Brown picks his favourite "white boy" rappers

Danny Brown is a unique presence in hip-hop and rarely does interviews. The Detroit lyricist is known for his outlandish style and quirky rap delivery. He even has a distinct voice. That said, in a recent appearance on the Drink Champs podcast with Noreaga and DJ EFN, the emcee spoke about his favourite “white boy” rappers.

In a segment where guests have to choose between two MCs, one of the decisions Brown was asked to make was between the white rappers Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly. The decision was easy for Brown as Eminem has been a longtime representative of Detroit.

Responding to the question concerning who was better, Brown stated, “Come on man! Y’all trying to be funny now?! I mean, of course, it’s going to be Em. I mean, we wouldn’t get an MGK if it weren’t for Em. You know? Weren’t no white boys coming around, you know?”

He continued, “I mean, my favourite white boy rapper is El-P, so.” Noreaga admitted that his favourite white lyricist had to be Eminem. During the interview, Brown also spoke about Pharrell Williams, who is now the creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton.

Speaking about their first exchange, Brown unveiled, “I seen him one time, and I think I probably weirded him out because I couldn’t stop following him around. But, it was by mistake.”

He continued, “Cuz he just had an aura around him. It was like a glow. I wasn’t meaning to do it. I couldn’t stop myself. It was like I was just drawn to the n*gga man.”

He concluded, “I couldn’t stop following the n*gga. I know he was like ‘What the fuck wrong with this n*gga?’ But, I couldn’t stop following the n*gga man,” You can watch Danny Brown’s Drink Champs interview below.
