Damon Dash wants to end Jay-Z feud: “We need to squash everything”

Damon Dash has publically called for Jay-Z to end their decades-long feud, saying, “We need to squash everything”.

The two men co-founded Roc-A-Fella together in 1995, but things turned sour between them after Def Jam bought the label in 2004, making Jay-Z president. This summer, the rivalry escalated after Dash sued ‘Hov’ over the streaming rights of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.

Additionally, Dash also attempted to auction off the record as an NFT (non-fungible token); however, a New York federal judge blocked this moveIn light of this, Jay’s former business partner then sought a minimum of $1million (£720,000) in damages for “unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, replevin, and conversion”.

However, Jay thanked Dash during his induction speech at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in a surprising turn of events. “Shout-out to Dame,” Jay told the crowd. “I know we don’t see eye to eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments. And I appreciate you and I thank you for that.”

Now, Dash has labelled Jay’s gesture “beautiful”. He told Page Six, “I’m glad he said it for the culture. We need to squash everything. So hopefully if that was an extended [olive branch], I’ll spin one back.”

“I have no beef with [him] if [he has] no beef with me,” he added. “Let’s get the lawyers out of it then. Let’s talk like men, but I definitely appreciate it.”
