DaBaby deletes apology to LGBTQ community

DaBaby has deleted his apology to the LGBTQ community, which he made amid the backlash to his on-stage homophobic comments at Rolling Loud festival in Miami.

During his set, he abhorrently said: “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up.”

At another point, he proclaimed: “Fellas, if you ain’t sucking dick in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up!”

Everyone from Elton John to Dua Lipa has condemned him for his disgusting comment. His remarks also bit his bank balance as festivals such as Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits dropped the rapper from his scheduled performances.

He did take to social media to apologise on August 2nd, but DaBaby has now removed the post. He wrote in the now-deleted note: “I want to apologise to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologise for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS, and I know education on this is important. Love to all. God bless.”

He continued: “Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes,” he wrote.

“As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance has been challenging. I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources. That’s what I needed, and it was received.”

Deleting the comments suggests that DaBaby didn’t write the original post with any sincerity if he even wrote it all, and they were just a failed ploy to not lose festival appearances by appearing to apologise.
