Alleged Crips gang member shot dead outside Gunna concert
A man was shot and killed outside of a Gunna show in Manhattan, New York City, over the weekend. The person who died was allegedly a Crips gang member.
The Atlanta rapper performed a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden on November 22nd, followed by a show at Harbor NYC Club on West 46th Street at the West Side Highway.
According to the New York Post, shots were fired outside the club at around 4am on November 23rd, resulting in the death of a 39-year-old man.
The man was shot in the back and groin; he was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital but died from his injuries.
Police say the person responsible for the shooting is still on the loose. A witness said, “I was over there working on [an oil-spill] site [across the road], and I just see people running. I go behind and just see a guy laying on the floor.”
Another person said, “There were hundreds of people on the street, all getting into cars. It’s loud. I heard shots, but I didn’t see anything. Shots, then people running. I saw him on the ground, then police and the ambulance came.”
A representative for Gunna was contacted for a statement, but didn’t immediately respond.
Last year, a co-defendant in the YSL RICO case testified that Gunna was a Crip when questioned by a prosecutor. “Is Gunna a Crip?” co-defendant Trontavious ‘Slug’ Stephens was asked, to which he replied, “Yeah.”
The rapper’s lawyer denied the claim, telling the courtroom, “[My client] is not involved in any of the so-called Shady Park Crips matters.”
Gunna’s performance at Madison Square Garden was part of his Wun World Tour. The run of dates began this month, with shows still to come in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He’s set to perform in South Africa, Australia, and Europe in 2026.
