Chynna's posthumous record will be released next week

A posthumous album from Chynna titled Drug Opera is to be released next week on August 20th.

The timing of the release coincides with the day after what would have been the rapper’s 27th birthday. Last April, Chynna Rogers passed away from an accidental drug overdose when she was aged just 25.

A press release for the project reads: “Prior to her passing, Chynna had been preparing this project and it is with her family’s wishes that the music is released unaltered from her vision, including the project’s name.”

After she died in 2020, a flurry of tributes poured in from all across the hip-hop world, including from the likes of Brockhampton and A$AP Rocky, who paid homage to Chynna.

Chynna’s estate claim that the new album hasn’t been tampered with, and it’s only some minor production details that have been tweaked. A new single titled ‘Seasonal Depression Pt. 2’ has emerged, accompanying the album announcement.
