Third suspect arrested in rapper Chris King’s murder case

California rapper Chris King was shot and killed in 2024. Now, a third suspect has been arrested in connection with his murder.

The 32-year-old (real name Christopher Cheeks) lost his life outside a recording studio on Hayes Street in Midtown Nashville.

According to WKRN News 2, officers brought 32-year-old Trayvon Palmer into custody in Las Vegas on February 17th after receiving a tip-off.

Police say King was in an alleyway near the studio when a group of men attempted to rob him, before shooting him.

King was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and died of his injuries. Another man was wounded in the gunfire but survived the incident.

The robbers escaped to the Hayes Street Hotel car park. The two other defendants, Amir Carroll and Adrian Cameron Jr, were arrested in February 2025 and May 2025, respectively.

Despite his death almost two years ago, King has 110,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. His biggest songs, ‘Back of My Mind’ and ‘Evil Kunevil’, are both Trippie Redd collaborations with 17 million and nine million streams on the platform.

He was a close friend of Justin Bieber and Redd, who both paid tribute after his death. Bieber wrote on Instagram, “Love you bro. This one hurts. Please keep his family in your prayers. See you in paradise brother.”
