Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama arrested on robbery and kidnapping charges
Chicago rapper Lil Zay Osama has been arrested on robbery and kidnapping charges following a home invasion.
The 28-year-old rapper (real name Isaiah Dukes) is one of six people charged with offences in Winnetka, Illinois, while another person was recently detained.
According to a press release from the US Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Illinois, the alleged incident took place on the afternoon of March 8th, 2026, resulting in charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and kidnapping in connection with a home invasion.
As well as Osama, others charged include 24-year-old Dashun Brown, 24-year-old David Franklin, 22-year-old Anthony Ramsey, 30-year-old Khiell Dukes, and 24-year-old Jalen Chambers.
The indictment claims Brown pretended to be a food delivery driver for the victim to open a front door, with others then forcibly entering the home with firearms. The homeowner was allegedly held captive for an hour, with the men using guns to restrain them.
From there, they allegedly gained access to a safe, a computer, and online accounts for cryptocurrency.
All defendants have been detained ahead of trial, with each pleading not guilty to the charges.
In a statement, US Attorney Andrew S Boutros said, “By immediately deploying targeted federal resources to this investigation and working closely with our federal and local law enforcement partners, we were able to swiftly disrupt a violent criminal conspiracy and remove dangerous individuals from the streets in a matter of days.”
He continued, “I will continue to push hard to crack down on violent crime in the Chicago area, which means the US Attorney’s Office is going to federally prosecute significant violent offences throughout the city and suburbs. The people of the Northern District of Illinois deserve our tireless and unwavering efforts to hold violent offenders accountable, and they will get it.”
With over half a million monthly Spotify listeners, Osama is best known for songs like ‘Changed Up’, ’61st to 64th’, and ‘Fuck My Cousin, Pt II’ with Lil Durk. He released his latest project, YN TAPE, in December.
