Cardi B announces new album ‘Am I the Drama?’ after seven years

Cardi B has announced her long-awaited new album. The Bronx rapper took to Instagram on June 23rd to reveal the title, Am I the Drama?, for her first album in seven years.

Am I the Drama? is scheduled for release on September 19th via Atlantic Records. The project will include 23 songs, including recent single ‘Outside’ and older songs like ‘WAP‘ with Megan Thee Stallion, which dropped in 2020, and ‘Up’ from 2021.

The album cover shows Cardi wearing a red body suit surrounded by crows, holding her heel as one of the birds lands on it.

The decision to include tracks from four and five years ago shows just how long it’s been since Cardi shared her debut album, Invasion of Privacy. Released in April 2018, the quadruple platinum project opened at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with 255,000 units in its first week. It included hit singles ‘Bodak Yellow’ and ‘I Like It’, winning Best Rap Album at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

Cardi recently teased her sophomore album with a reflective message, explaining how much her life has changed in the seven years since her last project.

“Seven years, and the time has come,” she said. “Seven years of love, life, and loss. Seven years, I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell. I learned power is not given; it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers and no more tears. I’m not back; I’m beyond. I’m not your villain; I’m your karma. The time is here. The time is now.”

Am I the Drama? has been delayed numerous times over the years, but its release date is now locked in and ready to go.
