Cardi B secures $1.2 million payout from YouTuber

Cardi B is set to receive almost $1.2million from Tasha K over the next five years to settle her bankruptcy. The Bronx rapper won a $4million judgement against the UnWinewithTashaK YouTuber three years ago, and now a plan is in place for the payment.

The ‘WAP’ artist filed her underlying libel and defamation lawsuit in 2019, claiming Tasha’s “campaign of slander” involved false allegations that she had herpes, used cocaine and worked as a prostitute.

According to Rolling Stone, a judge confirmed the plan on February 24th. It involves stopping Tasha from saying or publishing anything “derogatory, disparaging or defamatory” about Cardi or her family. She also agreed that no Cardi-related content would appear on her podcasts or channels; however, the plan doesn’t require Cardi to refrain from speaking about Tasha.

Tasha will pay $176,532 in the first year. By the fifth year, she will pay Cardi $318,653 over 12 months, totalling over $1.178 million.

Tasha’s lawyer said in a statement, “Today marks the end of a multi-year long chapter of lies, deception, and fraudulent conveyance on the part of Tasha K, her husband, and their entities. We are thrilled to put in place such an incredibly unprecedented and protective plan for Cardi.”

She continued, “I assume you will see the debtor and her swill counsel selling this as a win. Trust me, for all of the reasons in the plan we insisted on to protect our client, that is not the case. We don’t believe the false tears, and we protect against them.”

After the five years are over, Cardi can request the remainder of the $4million judgement, which means she could seek Tasha’s wages at a later date and force her into another bankruptcy and repayment plan.

Cardi released her latest single, ‘Toot It Up,’ earlier in February. The song was a collaboration with Pardison Fontaine. Her last album, Invasion of Privacy, dropped almost seven years ago and featured hits such as ‘Bodak Yellow’ and ‘I Like It’. In November, she said her second album would be released in 2025. “Next year is going to be my fucking year,” she said on Instagram Live.
