Cardi B forced to cancel show following hospitalisation
Cardi B has been making headlines recently. From her spats with her to-be ex-husband amid divorce to Child Protection Services turning up at her house, the ‘WAP’ rapper’s face has been all over the internet. However, most recently, she announced that she was hospitalised. As a result, the musician has just announced that she has cancelled an event she was booked to perform at.
The Bronx native was scheduled to appear at ONE MusicFest in Atlanta but has cited poor health as a reason she is not able to perform this year. Taking to social media on October 23rd, the rapper wrote, “I am so sad to share this news, but I’ve been in the hospital recovering from a medical emergency the last couple of days, and I won’t be able to perform at ONE MusicFest.”
She continued, “It breaks my heart that I won’t get to see my fans this weekend, and I really wish I could be there. Thank you for understanding, and I’ll be back better and stronger soon. Don’t worry. Love y’all.”
Although artists regularly cancel or reschedule shows, Cardi was one of the headliners of the festival, which has left a gaping hole in the line-up. The event, which takes place annually in Atlanta’s Central Park, will still boast performances from Gunna, Sexyy Red, GloRilla, Nelly, Victoria Monét and more.
It’s been difficult for the rapper’s health of late. Although Cardi recently gave birth to her third child, she nearly suffered a miscarriage when she was pregnant. In August, Cardi took to X to speak about it. During a conversation on Spaces, the emcee explained, “I was going down the stairs, and I slipped a little. I practically fell.”
She added, “I was trying to prevent myself from falling, so I was holding myself on the railing. My foot still slipped, and I kind of busted my ass.” However, this led to a freak occurrence which the Invasion Of Privacy creator vividly recalled, stating, “I felt a weird jerk, like a pop, and I couldn’t get up really. I noticed that I couldn’t really walk, like I was feeling pain in my, I don’t know, in the lower of my stomach.”
She added, “I couldn’t move my bottom at all. Just moving my feet was hurting the bottom of my stomach. I couldn’t move. I felt like paralysed.” After calling an ambulance, it turned out that the ‘Bongos’ star had torn a ligament in her pelvis, and she admitted, at the time, “I dilated, and I was having contractions for every two minutes for a whole 24 hours. So they had to monitor me, and I was in a lot of pain. I couldn’t move for two days straight.”
At this stage, the details of her current health issues which caused the festival cancellation are unknown, but Cardi will likely reveal more details on social media in due course.
