Cardi B unveils her favourite song to perform live

Cardi B is one of the most prominent female artists in hip-hop. Alongside artists such as Megan Thee Stallion and Ice Spice, she has drawn attention away from Nicki Minaj and is now forging her own lane that will see an acceleration in the popularity of female rap that began with Minaj in the 2010s.

When Cardi (real name Belcalis Almanzar) first emerged, she made a considerable impact and rose to fame like no one else. Having begun her career as a social media personality, she swiftly gained such notoriety she entered the reality TV space and, with a nationwide fanbase in love with her character, found immediate support when she began making music.

Following her debut hit ‘Bodak Yellow,’ Almanzar continued to ascend year after year and eventually entered a stratosphere that saw her alongside the likes of Nicki Minaj and the Migos.

From her humble beginnings in the Highbridge neighbourhood of the Bronx, the kooky, outspoken lyricist has now become a worldwide figure and has played in festivals worldwide, from Europe to Australasia. That said, she has several classics in her setlist.

Whether it’s her pre-fame bangers such as ‘Cheap Ass Weave’ or her newer anthems like ‘Bongos,’ there are copious amounts of songs Cardi can select to play live. Almanzar’s live performances are legendary. With highly sexual choreography and epic light displays, the New Yorker can put on a show.

That said, during a recent appearance on the Watch What Happens Live show with Andy Cohen, Cardi revealed her favourite song to perform. Speaking to the host, the rhymer disclosed, “I just love the energy of ‘Bodak Yellow’ and the energy just be so crazy when I perform it!”

The emcee was also asked about the first live performance she had ever experienced, when she revealed, “The first concert [and] the only concert I ever, until I became famous, that I went to was an Aventura concert, and that’s because my dad knew someone that was working at the venue so he just got us tickets.”
