Cardi B denies attacking security guard during assault trial
Cardi B has denied assaulting a security guard during her ongoing assault trial. The ‘WAP’ rapper began the trial in Alhambra, California, on August 25th.
Emani Ellis accused Cardi of assaulting her outside a medical office in February 2018 after she allegedly revealed her whereabouts. She claimed the rapper cut her face with her nail and spat on her, with the incident leaving her “deeply traumatised.”
According to Rolling Stone, Cardi told the court that she saw Ellis inside a Beverly Hills medical building on February 24th after the lift doors opened.
“I could hear her. She was talking on the phone,” she recalled. “She said, ‘Oh my god, Cardi B is here!’ So I kind of speed walk [away], but I feel her behind me.”
Cardi claimed she then said her name again. After turning around, she claimed Ellis was holding her phone and appeared to be taking a video.
“I asked her, ‘Yo, why are you recording me?’” Cardi said. “I’m like, ‘Why are you recording me? Aren’t you security?’ And she’s like, ‘Oh, my bad.’ But then I’m walking, and I feel her still following me. So as I’m speed walking trying to look for the office. I turn around again, and I’m like, ‘Why are you following me?’”
Cardi B claims Ellis replied, “Because I can,” to which she said, “No, you can’t.” She continued, “She’s getting closer and closer. Now she’s like in front of me, where I can’t really manoeuvre. I’m like, ‘Ain’t you supposed to be security? You’re recording me. Now you’re following me. Like, back up!’ She’s like, ‘I can do what I want.’”
She accused Ellis of invading her privacy, claiming they were chest to chest, but that she never considered taking action because of her size. “I’m thinking to myself, ‘This girl is big. She’s got big black boots on,'” Cardi said. “I’m like, ‘Damn, what the hell am I going to do now? She’s literally right in my face, like, on my chest, and we’re arguing, I’m telling her to back up. And she’s not backing up.’”
Cardi, who was secretly pregnant at the time, recalled saying, “Bitch, get the fuck out of my face.” She said they were screaming at each other and that Ellis lied that she had been attacked to a receptionist from the doctor’s office.
“She started wilding out, [saying], ‘This bitch hit me,’” Cardi said. “I’m looking at her like, ‘Girl, I couldn’t hit you if I wanted to.’”
The trial is set to continue.
