Cardi B celebrates legal victory with courtroom edition of new album
Cardi B recently appeared in court over allegations she assaulted a security guard. The rapper was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing, and now, she’s using some of her viral moments in the courtroom to promote her new album.
On September 2nd, jurors agreed that Cardi didn’t swing at Emani Ellis or scratch her face inside a Beverly Hills medical building in 2018.
Following the conclusion of the trial, Cardi announced she’ll be releasing a deluxe version of her upcoming Am I the Drama? album using some photos of her on the stand.
Cardi shared the news on Instagram, writing in the caption, “I mean look!… BY POPULAR DEMAND, the court room edition of AM I THE DRAMA? is available NOW.”
Am I the Drama? will be released on September 19th via Atlantic Records, featuring the singles ‘Outside’ and ‘Imaginary Playerz’.
During a recent interview, Cardi explained why it’s taken seven years for her to release the follow-up to Invasion of Privacy.
“I always knew that I was going to drop a second album, I just didn’t have a project well put together,” she told Billboard. “My fans be like, ‘Oh, you should have put a project together when ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ was out,’ but I only had four records that I liked.
“I didn’t have an album done around that time. I’m not the kind of person that’s going to lock in in two months and complete an album. I’m very picky with my music.”
Cardi revealed she recorded 60 songs for the project and constantly changes her mind about the music she makes.
“I want to put out this whole project because I have a lot of songs,” she said. “I recorded 60 songs. Every other day, I’m a different person, I change my mind [about everything]. My team is always like, ‘I hope you don’t change your mind about your songs.’ I’m like, ‘Nope. I’m settled.'”
