Earlier in the week, Beyoncé entered the history books by becoming only the fourth female to ever have ten number one singles in the R&B charts, joining legends like Aretha Franklin. Now, she has travelled back in time in a different way, by teaming up with the legend, Ronald Isley.
The new retro-sounding single ‘Make Me Say it Again Girl’ is a reworking of the Isley Brothers classic ‘Make Me Say It Again Girl, Pts. 1 & 2′, lifted from their 1975 album The Heat Is On.
With the Isley Brothers also recently working with Snoop Dogg on ‘Friends & Family’, it represents somewhat of a rebirth for the 1970s staple outfit and their smooth cruising R&B sounds.
Apparently, it was Beyoncé’s mother who brought the generations together for the new track. “Tina Knowles-Lawson was very influential in getting this record started and getting it to the point where we are now,” Kandy Isley told Billboard.
Adding: “She has a love for the Isley Brothers and her daughter grew up listening to this type of music.”
