Beyoncé's crew for ‘Renaissance’ world tour to reportedly have ‘MeToo’ checks

According to reports, Beyoncé will make her road crew perform ‘MeToo’ checks ahead of her 2023 world tour.

Ahead of the tour, which is rumoured to begin next summer, Beyoncé is reportedly carrying out background checks on those who will work with her. The Sun claims her dancers, band, and crew will have their past’s examined to prevent sexual misconduct and “make the tour a safe and friendly work environment”.

A source also informed the publication both alcohol and drugs would be banned during rehearsals and the tour. It’s claimed: “Bey knows the new performances will require intense choreography and precision, so everyone has to be clean and sober. There won’t be any crazy partying on the road either.”

Additionally, Beyoncé will also provide access to mental health support and resources for her colleagues. The source told the publication: “She knows people are happiest when they know their well-being is fulfilled. and wants to use what she has learned in the business to lead by example.”

Although the dates for the tour are yet to be announced, the tour was all but confirmed in October at the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala. One of the prizes was “two concert tickets to Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ 2023 tour”, which also included a backstage tour courtesy of Beyoncé’s mum, Miss Tina.

The winning bidder apparently paid between $45,000 and $50,000 for the ticket package. Though the cat is seemingly out of the bag, Beyoncé is yet to confirm the tour or even comment on it. The singer released Renaissance back in July, but we’ve not yet seen anything in the way of visuals or live performances.

Beyoncé attended the 2022 Wearable Art Gala with Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy. The event took place in Santa Monica and was hosted by the singer’s mother and stepfather, the founders and co-artistic directors of WACO. The event hosted an array of famous faces, including Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Rowland, Quinta Brunson and Michelle Williams.
