Benzino arrested on drug and speeding charges in Georgia

Benzino has been arrested in Georgia.

The 60-year-old rapper/media personality (real name Raymond Scott) was taken into custody in Crisp County on June 9th.

According to WALB, Benzino was stopped on Interstate 75 after going 91 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone near the 92-mile marker on Georgia 401.

The report from the Arabi Police Department states that Benzino didn’t have a driving licence, allegedly due to problems with child support.

An officer allegedly smelled marijuana from outside of the car, with Benzino admitting the drug was inside the SUV and telling them where it was. A bag was found in his side door.

Another bag of marijuana was reportedly found in the backseat next to a passenger, with a woman named Ruth Lewis arrested after stating it belonged to her.

Police discovered that Benzino’s licence had been suspended for several offences, prompting them to arrest him and take him to the Crisp County Jail.

The car didn’t belong to Benzino; instead, the owner was Ashley Bell, who said the rapper was driving because she had taken medication and needed to sleep.

In February, Benzino was hospitalised and claimed that he was struck by his ex’s friend’s car. Blogger Tasha K said, “Benzino just called me from Grady Hospital in Atlanta wearing a neck brace and in extreme pain. He alleges that he caught Althea attempting to remove their son from school despite him being the sole custodial parent.”

She continued, “He says he chased them to the car, and during the chaos, Diamond from Love and Hip Hop allegedly struck him with her new vehicle. This is an active and developing situation. Prayers up for Zino.” However, both Diamond and Althea denied the claims.
