Atlanta rapper Alley Boy dead at 42
Atlanta rapper Alley Boy has reportedly passed away at the age of 42.
The popular musician from Zone 6 is known for mixtapes like Definition of Fuck Shit and The Gift of Discernment.
According to Where Is the Buzz, Alley Boy died following a battle with kidney failure, with the publication pointing out his history with codeine and high blood pressure.
Various rappers paid tribute following his death. Taking to his Instagram Stories, 21 Savage wrote, “The blueprint east Atlanta Legend 41 !!!!!” DJ Scream also said, “One of the BEST out the city ever. Hands down. Alley Boy Bless up.”
Throughout his career, Alley Boy worked with the likes of Gucci Mane, Future, Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Meek Mill, Master P, and many others. Some of his biggest songs include ‘Four’, which has over 5.4 million YouTube views, and ‘Long Haul’, with 3.2 million Spotify streams.
Alley Boy was once signed to Gucci’s Str8 Drop Entertainment before co-founding Duct Tape Entertainment with Big Bank Black, securing a distribution deal with Asylum/Atlantic Records.
The rapper was open about his health issues. During an interview, he once said, “I had been drinking lean for so long, to the point where I could say I was addicted to it. And this fucked up my kidney. I got kidney failure from drinking codeine.”
He continued, “I was allergic to codeine. I’m allergic to opiates. So it was like I was drinking poison the whole time and didn’t know.”
In one of his final Instagram posts, Alley Boy wrote, “So y’all telling me if sum one break in my house rob and shoot me or hurt my family and da police come I’m not pose to say nothing ’cause I’m a rapper from the streets?”
