Argentina brutally troll Drake after he loses $300,00 bet on Canada
Following their 2-0 victory in the Copa America semi-final over Canada on July 9th, Argentina wasted no time in trolling the world’s most famous Canadian, Drake.
The two countries played the soccer match at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and vied for a place in the final of the Copa America. Canada had already surpassed expectations by reaching the latter stages of their tournament, but Drake wasn’t deterred by their underdog status, and duly put his money where his mouth is by placing a $300,000 bet on his country.
If they were successful, the rapper would have won $2.88 million. As we now know, that wasn’t to be the case, and on top of seeing Canada get knocked out by Argentina, Drake is now $300,000 worse off. Although that kind of money is merely pocket change to him, the loss would have still been a tough pill to swaller.
To make matters worse, Argentina’s social media team rubbed salt further in the wounds by captioning an image of their victorious team, “Not like us“, in reference to Kendrick Lamar’s latest diss track against Drake.
‘Not Like Us’ recently surpassed Drake’s record for the fastest rap song to reach 200 million streams on Spotify, and to date has now been streamed more than 470 million times on the streaming service alone. A video recently accompanied the track, and has racked up more than 40 million YouTube views in less than a week.
While the feud has now seemingly reached a ceasefire, with most deeming Lamar as the victor, the latest move by the Argentinian soccer team shows that Drake is still facing ridicule relating to the beef.
Meanwhile, Drake is no stranger to losing substantial amounts of money on sports betting. In May, he waged $500,000 on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia, and the curse of Champagne Papi struck once more when the Ukranian won the bout.
The rapper previously placed a six-figure sum on Francis Ngannou to defeat Anthony Joshua earlier this year, which proved to be an incorrect prediction. Furthermore, he also lost $700,000 after Dricus Du Plessis was victorious against Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
Although they may have lost him $300,000 against Canada, Drake was successful when he placed $1 million on Argentina to beat France in the final of the Fifa World Cup in 2022. If only he backed the South American nation again this time round then he would have avoided social media humiliation and helped his bank balance.
