André 3000 wanted to pull his Killer Mike feature

André 3000 is one of the greatest rappers of his generation, and there isn’t a single artist out there who wouldn’t want a few bars from the Outkast maestro on their record. Killer Mike of Run The Jewels fame didn’t want to miss his chance.

Killer Mike managed to snag the exuberant rapper for a feature on his album Michael on the song ‘Scientists and Engineers’. However, it nearly didn’t go through the editing process, after André 3000 attempted to kibosh the verse.

Three Stacks wanted the feature scrapped until he heard the work of Detroit-based singer Eryn Allen Kane who performs the hook on the song.

“André 3000, he’s in Japan right now as we talk, playing the flute,” Mike noted during a listening session on social media. “He called me, he’s like, ‘Kill, I don’t know about the song, man. We just got a good rap record, man.’

“And then Cuz [Lightyear] was like, ‘You sent him the final record?’ I’m like, ‘Nah.’ I sent it over with Eryn’s hook and stuff. He hit back with, ‘Yeah, yeah, you got the record. Who is that?!’”

Mike added: “So thank you, Eryn, I really appreciate you for that.”

The track first peered its head over the trenches in April when a snippet surfaced and will also see a feature from Future.
