Amazon stops selling alleged memoir by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ late ex-wife
One unsavoury fact about the human condition is that people will always seize the opportunity to try and cash in on a headline-grabbing controversy. However, Amazon has now pulled an unauthorised book that became a bestseller following the arrest of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
The 60-page book, Kim’s Lost Words: A journey for justice, from the other side…, was penned by Todd Christopher Guzze under the pseudonym of Jamal T Millwood, and published independently under another pseudonym, Chris Todd. Describing himself as an investigative producer, author, and journalist, Todd claimed that sources close to Combs and his ex-partner Kim Porter had provided him with the requisite material.
As a result, he compiled an unauthorised memoir that was said to be cobbled together from flash drives, documents, tapes, and diary entries made by Porter during her 13-year relationship with Combs. However, not only was the content’s veracity immediately placed under question, Kim’s Lost Words was decried by the two children Porter shared with the disgraced music mogul.
The pair’s twin daughters, Jessie and D’lila Combs, shared a statement denouncing the unofficial tome as being a complete falsehood, while their father’s legal team denounced Kim’s Lost Words as “a shameless attempt to profit from tragedy,” with Amazon feeling compelled to step in.
With Combs currently behind bars and awaiting trial, as the allegations continue mounting up, Kim’s Lost Words quickly rose up the retail giant’s bestseller ranks, but having been disavowed publicly by the children of the subject – who passed away from pneumonia at the age of 47 in November 2018 – Amazon released a statement of its own confirming the book had been de-listed.
“We were made aware of a dispute regarding this title and have notified the publisher,” a spokesperson for the company confirmed. “The book is not currently available for sale in our store.” The book, which was full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, alleges abusive acts committed by Combs during his relationship with Porter.
No evidence was ever supplied to confirm the authenticity of anything attributed to Porter as having actually been said, and suspicions were raised further when Todd suggested that he was “willing to come forward because of the recent arrest of Sean Combs.”
With Combs currently behind bars and facing serious federal charges, Kim’s Lost Words quickly became the number one bestselling book on Amazon, but the corporation has now made the call to have it permanently pulled from the marketplace.
