Akademiks claims new Drake album is on the way

Twitch streamer, and hip hop commentator, Akademiks, has said that he suspects new music from Drake is on the way, despite having released his album only weeks ago.

Last month, Drizzy released his sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy, and it’s broken an array of accolades. In fact, the release led to one of the most one-sided weeks since records began 63 years ago, and he’s the only other act apart from The Beatles to have had all the top five spots in the chart at the same time.

Now, Akademiks has said that he believes the Canadian will cash in on the buzz that is currently surrounding him and release even more music while he’s hot property.

“Here’s the great thing about Drake,” he said in a recent stream. “I think Drake is going to drop more music. First of all, he’s aware of what people perceive his career like, if it’s trending up or down. I think he’s gonna drop new music in the next two months, facts. Or he’s gonna drop a single.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, during a mammoth appearance on comedians Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh’s Flagrant 2 podcast, which lasted almost five hours, Akademiks claimed that Drake was the best rapper ever. “When I say Drake is the best rapper ever, I’m not talking about just rapping,” he noted. “I think he’s seeing the game, and doing all of the necessary things to capitalise and be at the top.”

Comedian Schulz then brought Jay-Z into the debate and suggested his legacy considerably outweighs Drake’s. “Drake had an ironclad hold on the game consistently, for ten-plus years,” Akademiks responds.

He added, “Jay was one of the top five. Some years he was one, some years he was two, some years he was three. But I think what he gave to the game, in terms of people, influence, his impact, people cloud their thoughts in thinking about it to say he’s the best.”

Whether new music is on the way from Drake is unknown, but the rapper does seem to have a tendency to strike when the iron is hot, and right now, it’s never been hotter.
