A$AP Rocky reportedly set to respond to Drake on new album

Harlem-born rapper A$AP Rocky is set to hit back at Drake on his upcoming album, according to reports.

Rocky announced his fourth album, Don’t Be Dumb, earlier this year during an appearance at Paris Fashion Week. He has been teasing the record since last year, even describing it as his best work yet.

Don’t Be Dumb will mark Rocky’s first full-length release since Testing, which arrived in 2018. Though few details have been officially confirmed about the release, it is expected to boast an impressive list of collaborators and to arrive next month, on August 30th.

Now, DJ Kast One has suggested that Rocky will respond to Drake’s disses on the new record. During an appearance on hip-hop radio station Hot 97, Kast One stated, “I heard A$AP Rocky definitely addressing a lot of the main topics that are happening out here right now. Let’s just say, the list keeps going on strong.”

Ebro, who hosts the radio show, prompted Kast One to comment further, asking, “So you saying Rocky is still on Drake’s list is what you saying?” Kast One responded that he would be “cemented on the list after this.”

After Drake took aim at several rappers on ‘Push Ups’ earlier this year, Rocky joined two of his rivals, Future and Metro Boomin, on ‘Show of Hands’. Rocky seemed to make reference to Drake in his verse. “Heard you dropped your latest shit,” he rapped, “Funny how it just came and went.”

Drake then took the time to diss Rocky amidst his beef with Kendrick Lamar, referencing the rapper on his song, ‘Family Matters’. Drake unveiled the track back in May as part of his ongoing feud with Lamar. The song also hit out at a number of other rappers, including Future, Pharrell Williams and Rocky.

“Rakim talking shit again,” Drake began, before making reference to their shared romantic history with Rihanna. “I ain’t even know you rapped still,” Drake continued, “’cause they only talking bout your fit again, probably gotta have a kid again ‘fore you think of dropping any shit again.”

Over two months after the release of ‘Family Matters,’ Rocky has yet to respond to the diss, but maybe this is because he has been saving his verse for Don’t Be Dumb.

A release date for Don’t Be Dumb is yet to be officially confirmed, but the album is expected to arrive at the end of next month, on August 30th.
