A nine-year-old Drake goes viral as home video resurfaces

As he continues to battle Kendrick Lamar, Drake is back in the news. A home video of the Scorpion artist has surfaced, showing the Toronto native, aged nine, rapping and singing at his childhood home.

Before Drake became a Grammy Award-Winning rapper and global superstar, he was a teen actor and got cast for the Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation. However, this viral video precedes Drake’s entrance into acting.

A Twitter/X account called Historic Vids uploaded this latest 15-second footage from 1995. Within just a few hours, the footage accrued 33,000 likes and over one thousand retweets. In the comments section, fans discussed how interesting Drake’s growth has been since his childhood.

The video features footage of Drake and his father, Dennis Graham, singing along to an R’n’B track. Drake also spits a verse from a gangsta rap track. However, fans are still trying to discern the lyrics.

Since the release of Metro Boomin and Future’s collaborative album, We Don’t Trust You, Drake has been embroiled in multiple beefs. This latest hip-hop firestorm began when Kendrick Lamar aimed the Views emcee on the track ‘Like That.’ Ever since, there has been chaos.

Drake has also been battling Travis Scott and Rick Ross. The latter aimed at the Toronto native in his song ‘Champagne Moments’ which hears Ross rap lines such as “Like his moves, but he never had a fight in school / Always ran another n*gga had to write your grooves.” It also refers to Drake having “copy and paste” rhymes.

As this 1995 footage circulates on social media, it is polarising the culture. While many mock Drake and laugh at the spectacle-wearing youngster in the video, others are praising him for following his dreams. You can see the video below.
