50 Cent defends decision to speak out against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
50 Cent has been speaking out against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs for many years, and shows no signs of slowing down with his comments despite the Bad Boy founder being at the centre of a criminal trial. Curtis Jackson has now defended his choices and stands by his decision to draw more focus to the allegations against Combs.
The Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ creator is so sure in himself and what he is doing that he has decided to produce a documentary about Combs focusing on the lead-up to what has come to pass. Fifty teased the documentary series on social media months ago and it has since been officially announced by Netflix.
At the time of the announcement, Jackson told Variety that a documentary was necessary because he wanted to “give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives.”
He added, “This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far.” Much has happened since then, and although many see him as kicking a dead horse, he still believes that putting Combs under a microscope is necessary.
In a recent interview with People, the ‘In Da Club’ rhymer explained that although his behaviour may look obsessive, Jackson believes it to be essential. Speaking on his explicit fixation on Combs’ recent legal troubles, the lyricist detailed, “Look, it seems like I’m doing some extremely outrageous things, but I haven’t. It’s really me just saying what I’ve been saying for ten years.”
Last month, Combs was arrested in Manhattan on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, but he is yet to be proven guilty.
Fifty stated that his desire with the documentary was to show people how he navigated the industry and avoided Combs’ alleged parties, adding, “Now it’s becoming more full-facing in the news with the Puffy stuff, but away from that, I’m like, ‘Yo, it’s just my perspective because I stayed away from that stuff the entire time because this is not my style.'”
In other 50 Cent news, he recently announced that he will perform six shows in the new year as part of a residency at PH Live inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The show will close out this year, with residency set to run into early 2025. The shows are scheduled for December 27th, 28th, 30th, and 31st, as well as January 3rd and 4th.
