50 Cent has addressed his “beef” with New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The G-Unit rapper and the current mayor of NYC have gone back and forth over the past year with disagreements over tax policy.
During a recent interview with Complex, Mamdani revealed that 50 was his dream dinner party guest.
“I would throw in 50 Cent, so that we could have a conversation around tax policy,” he said. “My tax policies are not his favourites, but Get Rich or Die Tryin’ is still one of my favourites of all time. It’s a one-sided beef, yeah. I think we’re always gonna have a disagreement on that tax policy.”
He added, “I wanna increase tax on the wealthiest; he does not want that to happen. But I will still appreciate the song ‘Many Men’, for whatever our disagreements are.”
50 took to Instagram on July 2nd to claim there’s no beef while referencing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.
“Man focus on the wedding of the century, Taylor and Travis down at the Garden,” he wrote. “We don’t have beef, I just think some of these ideas are radical. Stay away from the taxes. OK!”
Last year, 50 offered to pay Mamdani to stop him from running for mayor “Where did he come from? Whose friend is this? I’m not feeling this plan. No,” he said. “I will give him $258,750 and a first-class one-way ticket away from NY. I’m telling Trump what he said too!”
In response, he said, “He’s a critic! I didn’t even know what my salary would be until I opened up Instagram and saw this thing that was like, ’50 Cent offers Mamdani X-amount of money.’”
