21 Savage’s manager responds to claims of Kendrick Lamar diss on new song
Many rappers have used the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake as an opportunity to generate headlines. Recently, JPEGMAFIA and A$AP Rocky took shots at the Canadian rapper, while big names like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Charlamagne tha God defended the Compton rapper. Additionally, fans suspected 21 Savage had joined the list of artists uniting against Drizzy, but his manager has now set the record straight.
Given the fact that 21 Savage has connections to both parties, he has stayed far away from the theatrics, choosing not to release any disses and maintain his absence from the narrative.
However, Drake then released 100GB of previously unheard, unreleased content, which included ‘It’s Up’, a track that shows Savage taking shots at an unnamed rapper. Some made the understandable assumption that it was Savage going after Lamar, but his manager has since shut down any such rumour.
“No rap cap come out my mouth. Made a couple songs, think he hot now,” 21 Savage raps. “Hit his ass up, he think he Pac now. Broad day, like he got shot down.”
This contentious line led to streamer DJ Akademiks getting in touch with Savage’s manager, Meezy, who confirmed the bars were directed towards someone else.
“21 is not dissing Kendrick,” Akademiks stated before reading a text from Meezy that read: “That definitely ain’t no shot at Kendrick.” Akademiks also noted that hitting out at Lamar’s lack of hits wouldn’t make much sense, considering he is one of the hottest acts in the business right now.
Savage and Lamar have also collaborated in the past, although it’s clear he leans more ardently towards Drizzy, considering they have multiple hits and an album together. Kanye West even recently praised their partnership, likening it to his own relationship with Ty Dolla $ign.
Speaking directly on the topic of the ongoing feud, Savage has also stated he desired for the two to work out their differences and move on. He said: “Metro my brother and Drake my brother. Them n**gas gonna figure that shit out eventually.”
