21 Savage joins Summer Walker on stage for SNL performance

Atlanta emcee 21 Savage recently performed some hits from his latest album on the late-night talk show Saturday Night Live and brought some special guests to appear alongside him, including R’n’B vocalist Summer Walker and Brent Faiyaz.

Earlier this year, 21 Savage (real name Shéyaa Abraham-Joseph) announced that he would be releasing a new album and biopic about his life as an immigrant moving from the UK to East Atlanta.

Focused on his life in the lead-up to his 2019 detainment by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the project and biopic hit streaming services on January 12th. Joseph initially teased the body of work by posting the LP’s artwork online.

In January, 21 Savage began his album rollout with a trailer for the biopic, which starred Donald Glover and Caleb McLaughlin. After the project’s release, the rapper admitted the trailer was a “parody.”

American Dream debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spawned several hits, including ‘Redrum,’ ‘Prove It’ featuring Summer Walker and ‘Should’ve Wore a Bonnet’ featuring Brent Faiyaz.

After performing ‘Redrum,’ on SNL, the Atlanta rapper brought Faiyaz and Walker onto the iconic New York stage to perform these two tracks, which are fan favourites, as well as classics.

American Dream is 21 Savage’s third solo studio album, following 2017’s Issa Album and 2019’s I Am > I Was. The chart-topping project features production from well-known musicians, including London on da Track, Metro Boomin and Cardo.
