Yung Filly charged with reckless driving while on bail for rape and assault
Rapper Yung Filly is currently out on bail for rape and assault charges but has come into contact with the law once again. The hip-hop figure and YouTube personality has been charged with reckless driving, having been caught going significantly over the speed limit.
The 29-year-old (real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos) was reportedly going 98mph in a 60mph zone on Roe Highway in High Wycombe, Australia, on November 17th. A speed camera captured the incident. Police have since seized his car.
Outside of reckless driving, Barrientos has been accused of assaulting a woman in a hotel room in Perth following a nightclub performance on September 27th. He was arrested in Brisbane and extradited to Perth, making his first court appearance in October.
According to The Canberra Times, Barrientos was charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and four counts of sexual penetration without consent while appearing in Perth Magistrates Court on October 9th. In addition, he’s also been charged with one count of impeding another person’s breathing or circulation by applying pressure to the neck.
Barrientos is under strict bail conditions that involve him giving up his passport, reporting to police daily and supplying a $100,000 security. He hasn’t entered a plea and could be forced to remain in Western Australia for years while he awaits trial.
The popular UK figure is set to appear in court on the reckless driving charges on December 12th, which also happens to be the same day he’s due to stand for the rape and assault charges.
Barrientos has a number of big songs to his name, with his single ‘Grey’ racking up over 68 million streams on Spotify following its release in January; Manchester rapper Aitch also features on the remix. His highest-charting record to date is ‘Hold’ with fellow media personality Chunkz, which peaked at number 29 in the UK Singles Chart in 2019.
He has over 3.1 million followers on Instagram, which hasn’t been active since September, with his YouTube channel boasting 1.4 million subscribers and 120 million views since it launched back in 2013. His latest single ‘Tempted’ dropped in August.
