Young Thug announces first post-prison album ‘UY Scuti’

Young Thug has officially announced his new album, UY Scuti, which will be his first project since being released from prison last year. The Atlanta rapper headed to social media on April 16th to reveal the title and give people a chance to pre-order the upcoming release.

Thug took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a link to his website, writing in the post, “It’s time. Red Planet.” The link leads to a website that allows fans to purchase vinyl and CD versions of the album, which reveals two different black-and-white album covers.

Despite the news, the tracklist and release date haven’t been confirmed yet. The vinyl version includes a translucent silver vinyl disc, limited to four units per customer. In contrast, the CD version features jewel case packaging, which is also limited to four per customer.

Other merchandise on the website includes box sets, which feature tees with the album name and others that read “The Biggest Star” and “WWBD,” short for “What Would Brian Do,” as a nod to Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel.

The album announcement comes after Thug held up a shirt at a recent Miami Heat versus Golden State Warriors game with “UY SCUTI #5” printed on the back. In addition, a billboard was spotted on the way to Coachella, which read, “UNIVERSE HAS BEEN TOO QUIET. UNTIL NOW. UY SCUTI,” with a May 2025 date in the corner.

Thug was released from jail in October after accepting a plea deal where he was sentenced to time served and 15 years of probation. His last album, Business Is Business, dropped in June 2023 and features Drake, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert and others. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 with 89,000 units.

While he’s yet to release a song since his YSL RICO case, Thug collaborated with Lil Baby and Future on ‘Dumb, Dumb, and Dumber’ in January.
