Young Thug to reclaim seized items following YSL RICO case
Young Thug had many of his possessions seized by Georgia authorities, but a judge has ordered the state to return his items.
Cars, jewellery, and cash were taken from Thugger as part of Fulton County’s investigation into the rapper.
However, according to CBS News, a judge ruled on January 7th that Thug must reclaim some of the items that were seized.
His property includes a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2022 Porsche 911, three Mercedes-Benzes, a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a 2018 Lamborghini, and a Can-Am Spyder. $149,000 in cash was also seized by authorities.
In her ruling, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker said, “The Court finds that the plain language of statute requires that Claimants’ property be returned promptly, free of liens and encumbrances.”
She continued, “The State has not identified any authority that would allow it to retain custody of the property where the forfeiture complaint has been dismissed, and now the State’s appeal of that dismissal has been dismissed.”
The judge gave the state of Georgia a deadline of 5pm on January 9th to return the items to Thug.
Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steele, petitioned the court, claiming the state didn’t hold a civil forfeiture hearing within the 60-day time limit. The state challenged the petition, but ultimately favoured Thug.
In August 2025, the judge said, “I think that the court has no option under the case law and under the statute but to grant this dismissal, so the dismissal is granted. The procedural rules and requirements of these forfeiture statutes are mandatory, and the statutes are strictly construed against the state.”
Thug was released from jail in November 2024 after entering a non-negotiated plea deal.
