Young Thug claims he paid for Gunna’s number one album

Young Thug has claimed he paid for Gunna to reach number one on the Billboard 200. The Atlanta rapper reached the top spot in 2022 with DS4Ever, blocking The Weeknd’s Dawn FM by 2,300 units.

In a leaked jail conversation, Thug alleged he spent $50,000 on fake streams for Gunna to top the album chart. He made the comments after claiming Gunna was seeking $20 million for a new record deal.

“When he did his two-album deal with me, Cash called me one day, like, ‘Hey, what’ going on with Gunna? Who’s speaking for them?'” he recalled. “I’m like, ‘Why?’ He said, ‘You know, he trying to get signed already.’ Well, we can sign it. He demanded he want, you know, $20 million.

“So I told him, like, ‘Whatever you want, I’m going to give you the money, whatever you want.’ Just on some we brother shit. Like, ‘I know you can’t go nowhere in this world and get no $20 million check from no label.'”

Thug went on to claim that Gunna was deluded in his thinking because he assisted his number-one album through payments.

He remembered saying, “You’re not doing numbers like that. You all right, but you ain’t doing it like that. You know?
Like, the number-one album you just had right now, I paid for you to have the number-one album. You didn’t honestly earn a number-one album over The Weeknd, my boy.”

Thugger continued, “I paid for that shit. I never said anything to him. I never told him that, you know, because I just got, I just we just got the plug on it. Like, you never earned a number-one album.
I spent 50 extra grand buying a monthly streams, 50,000 buying streams for you. For you to beat me.”

DS4Ever was Gunna’s third solo album, released on Thug’s YSL Records. It sold 150,000 units in its first week with appearances from Drake, Future, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Lil Baby, and more.
