Young Scooter’s cause of death revealed

The cause of death for Atlanta rapper Young Scooter has been revealed. Scooter (real name Kenneth Bailey) passed away on his birthday, March 28th, and died from injuries sustained when fleeing a house in his hometown.

According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office, the 39-year-old died after puncturing his thigh while climbing a wooden fence and losing too much blood.

“Mr Bailey sustained a penetrating injury of his right thigh that created marked blood loss,” said a press release to Rolling Stone. “This injury was not a gunshot wound. Mr Bailey injured himself on organic (wooden) fencing material and/or woody debris after vaulting at least one fence.”

Rumours initially spread that Atlanta police had shot Scooter before a press conference revealed he died after suffering a leg injury while fleeing from them.

Officers were called to a residence upon a report that shots were fired, said Atlanta police homicide commander Andrew Smith. When authorities arrived at the house, police said two men had immediately fled the residence.

Scooter reportedly ”jumped two fences while he was fleeing”. Smith continued to explain, “When officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg.”

The other man who fled the house returned and remained unnamed. Scooter’s injuries were treated at the scene, but the severity of them required him to be rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died. “The injury that was sustained was not via the officers on scene,” Smith said. “It was when the male was fleeing.”

Scooter released his last album, Fast Lane Juugin, in February. The biggest song on the project, ‘Packs In’, is a collaboration with Gucci Mane.
